{"id":23881,"date":"2023-11-09T02:31:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T02:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=23881"},"modified":"2023-11-09T02:31:00","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T02:31:00","slug":"dialogue-key-to-relations-with-china-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/11\/09\/dialogue-key-to-relations-with-china-2\/","title":{"rendered":"DIALOGUE KEY TO RELATIONS WITH CHINA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has concluded an official visit to the People\u2019s Republic of China, a significant step forward in stabilising relations between Australia and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This visit demonstrated Australia\u2019s commitment to dialogue as the most effective way to deliver our national interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Shanghai, the Prime Minister attended the China International Import Expo to showcase Australia\u2019s world-leading exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Beijing, Prime Minister Albanese held meetings with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Mr Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People\u2019s Congress Standing Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister discussed the full range of Australia\u2019s interests during his visit, including trade, consular, human rights, regional and multilateral issues. He underlined our enduring commitment to pursuing Australia\u2019s national interest, and the vital importance of open dialogue.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaders agreed to resume engagement and dialogue between Australia and China at the highest levels and between officials, important aspects of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister spoke to President Xi and Premier Li about where we can cooperate on areas of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to pursue greater practical cooperation, including on trade and economic issues, agriculture, climate change and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trade continues to be an important part of our bilateral relationship. Australia and China have benefited enormously from&nbsp;trade \u2013 it has improved living standards, helped Australian businesses grow and generated well-paid jobs for Australian workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government\u2019s steady engagement has already resulted in the removal of trade impediments in coal, barley, hay and other products. The Prime Minister used this visit to advocate for the removal of remaining barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"prime-minister-anthony-albanese-said\">Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to conclude a successful visit to China, the first by an Australian Prime Minister since 2016.
