{"id":2333,"date":"2019-04-16T16:15:35","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T16:15:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=2333"},"modified":"2019-04-16T16:15:35","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T16:15:35","slug":"more-congestion-busting-projects-to-benefit-perths-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/04\/16\/more-congestion-busting-projects-to-benefit-perths-east\/","title":{"rendered":"More Congestion Busting Projects to Benefit Perth&#039;s East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two more Morrison Government, congestion busting projects have been announced in Perth\u2019s east under the $4 billion Urban Congestion Fund.<br \/>\nThe two projects will enable significant upgrades at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the intersection on Great Eastern Highway and Old Northam Road in Sawyers Valley;<\/li>\n<li>the intersection on Great Eastern Highway and Old Northam Road in Wooroloo;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Morrison Government has budgeted $3 million for the project.<br \/>\nThe Urban Congestion Fund eliminates local hotspots and alleviates traffic headaches across the country.<br \/>\nMinister for Cities, Urban Infrastructure and Population Alan Tudge said the projects would help streamline traffic flow along the busy Great Eastern Highway.<br \/>\n\u201cWe want people to be doing what\u2019s important to them, rather than sitting in traffic,\u201d Mr Tudge said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Liberal Nationals Government has boosted investment in congestion-busting works.<br \/>\n\u201cThese projects also strengthen our Government&#8217;s firm commitment to ensuring Western Australia gets its fair share of infrastructure funding, now and into the future.\u201d<br \/>\nMember for Hasluck Ken Wyatt AM said: \u201cThese commitments are set to make life easier and safer for Hasluck families and businesses on one of the State\u2019s most important transport routes.<br \/>\n\u201cPeople will be able to get home sooner, to spend more quality time with their loved ones.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Morrison Government has listened to what our local communities are calling for \u2013 and this investment is part of our comprehensive plan to deliver for all Australians.\u201d<br \/>\nThe projects build on an additional $1.6 billion of our Liberal Nationals Government&#8217;s investment into critical road and rail infrastructure across Perth and regional Western Australia in the recent budget.<br \/>\n\u201cThis includes $20 million to construct the Lloyd Street extension and bridge in Midland, which will make a massive difference to traffic flow in one of our most important shopping, commercial and health precincts,\u201d said Mr Wyatt.<br \/>\nAbout $13.6 billion has been invested by the Liberal-National Government in West Australian road and rail infrastructure since coming into Government, including $4.8 billion over the past two Budgets.<br \/>\nFunding for key WA infrastructure projects in the recent Budget also includes:<br \/>\n<strong>Level Crossing Removals<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oats Street\/Welshpool Road\/Mint Street Level Crossing Removal (Federal Government investment: $207.5 million)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roads<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Albany Ring Road (Federal Government investment: $140 million)<\/li>\n<li>Fremantle Traffic Bridge (Swan River Crossing) (Federal Government investment: $115 million)<\/li>\n<li>Tonkin Highway projects (Stage 3 extension;
