{"id":22353,"date":"2023-08-16T18:44:27","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T18:44:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=22353"},"modified":"2023-08-16T18:44:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T18:44:27","slug":"man-charged-over-historic-sexual-assault-offences-laguna-near-cessnock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/08\/16\/man-charged-over-historic-sexual-assault-offences-laguna-near-cessnock\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged over historic sexual assault offences \u2013 Laguna, near Cessnock\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged historic sexual assault of a girl in the state\u2019s Hunter region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May 2023, detectives from the State Crime Command\u2019s Sex Crimes Squad commenced Strike Force Larow after allegations a girl had been sexually and indecently assaulted by a man known to her on a number of occasions between 2010 and 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following extensive investigations, detectives attended a rural property in Fernances Crossing \u2013 45km south-west of Cessnock \u2013 about 11am yesterday (Wednesday 16 August 2023), where they arrested a 75-year-old man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with 21 offences, including,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Have sexual intercourse with person \u2013 older than 10 and younger than 14 years (12 counts)<\/li><li>Indecent assault person under 16 years of age (4 counts)<\/li><li>Sexual intercourse with person under the age of 10 years (2 counts)<\/li><li>Commit act of indecency with victim under 10 years<\/li><li>Commit act of indecency with person under 16 years; and<\/li><li>Use child under 14 years to make child abuse material.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>He was refused bail to appear at Cessnock Local Court today (Thursday 17 August 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigations under Strike Force Larow are ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged historic sexual assault of a girl in the state\u2019s Hunter region.
