{"id":21769,"date":"2023-07-12T22:52:54","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T22:52:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=21769"},"modified":"2023-07-12T22:52:54","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T22:52:54","slug":"labors-industrial-relations-taskforce-a-threat-to-the-nsw-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/07\/12\/labors-industrial-relations-taskforce-a-threat-to-the-nsw-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor&#8217;s Industrial Relations Taskforce a threat to the NSW economy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today\u2019s release of the Industrial Relations Taskforce Terms of Reference is a further demonstration of the NSW Labor Government\u2019s wrong priorities, as they continue to put unions ahead of our state\u2019s economic security and NSW families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leader of the Opposition Mark Speakman said, \u201cby inviting the Industrial Relations Commission to increase public sector wages in NSW to match those of the highest paying States, the NSW Labor Government would be feeding inflation, abandoning budget restraint and risking our triple A credit ratings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBefore the election, Chris Minns said his public sector pay rises wouldn\u2019t cost taxpayers a cent \u2013 he has broken this promise \u2013 and now we know that over the next four years it will cost at least $2.5 billion, and up $3.4 billion if the proposed HSU deal is extended to other workers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBefore the election, Chris Minns said his Government would identify productivity savings to meet union demands \u2013 he has broken this promise \u2013 as there are no productivity savings in sight.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to these broken promises, the Government is yet to reach an agreement with the Health Services Union who continue to threaten industrial action that would weaken our state\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince coming to Government, Chris Minns and Daniel Mookhey have consistently talked down our economy \u2013 and have shown no indication that they are interested in preserving our Triple A credit rating,\u201d Mr Speakman said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor this Terms of Reference to state that the IRC should merely \u2018<em>consider the finances of the government while supporting efficient service delivery<\/em>\u2019is farcical \u2013 this Government simply can\u2019t be trusted to manage our states finances and maintain our strong economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChris Minns and Daniel Mookhey must guarantee that any wage rise beyond the current wages policy is fully offset by productivity gains.
