{"id":21444,"date":"2023-06-16T20:07:07","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T20:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=21444"},"modified":"2023-06-16T20:07:07","modified_gmt":"2023-06-16T20:07:07","slug":"appointment-of-australian-ambassador-high-commissioner-and-consuls-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/06\/16\/appointment-of-australian-ambassador-high-commissioner-and-consuls-general\/","title":{"rendered":"Appointment of Australian Ambassador, High Commissioner and Consuls-General"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today I announce the appointment of five career public servants to lead Australian posts in Makassar, Athens, India, Bengaluru and Papeete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia&#8217;s representatives overseas prosecute our national interests and through their diplomatic engagement help uphold the norms and rules that have underpinned decades of peace and prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am pleased that these individuals will take up the following positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/minister\/penny-wong\/media-release\/consul-general-makassar\">Mr Todd Dias as Australia&#8217;s next Consul-General in Makassar, Indonesia.<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/minister\/penny-wong\/media-release\/ambassador-greece\">Ms Alison Duncan as Australia&#8217;s next Ambassador to Greece.<\/a>&nbsp;Ms Duncan will also be accredited to Bulgaria and Romania.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/minister\/penny-wong\/media-release\/high-commissioner-india\">Mr Philip Green OAM as Australia&#8217;s next High Commissioner to India<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/minister\/penny-wong\/media-release\/consul-general-bengaluru\">Ms Hilary McGeachy as Australia&#8217;s first Consul-General in Bengaluru, India.<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/minister\/penny-wong\/media-release\/consul-general-papeete\">Ms Alison Shea as Australia&#8217;s next Consul-General in Papeete, French Polynesia.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I thank the outgoing Ambassador, High Commissioner and Consul Generals, for their contributions to advancing Australia&#8217;s interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I announce the appointment of five career public servants to lead Australian posts in Makassar, Athens, India, Bengaluru and Papeete.
