{"id":20953,"date":"2023-04-19T04:05:05","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T04:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=20953"},"modified":"2023-04-19T04:05:05","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T04:05:05","slug":"appointment-of-australian-high-commissioners-and-ambassadors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/04\/19\/appointment-of-australian-high-commissioners-and-ambassadors\/","title":{"rendered":"Appointment of Australian High Commissioners and Ambassadors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today I announce the appointment of four career public servants to lead Australian posts in Austria, Kiribati, Singapore and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our diplomats are the driver of Australia\u2019s engagement with the world and responsible for ensuring our national interests today and into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am pleased that these highly qualified individuals will take the following positions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/node\/4347\">Mr Ian Biggs<\/a>&nbsp;will be Australia\u2019s next Ambassador to Austria, he will also be accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. He will also be Australia\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where he will also serve on the IAEA Board of Governors.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/node\/4348\">Ms Karen Bray<\/a>&nbsp;as Australia\u2019s next High Commissioner to the Republic of Kiribati<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/node\/4349\">Mr Allaster Cox<\/a>&nbsp;as Australia\u2019s next High Commissioner to Singapore.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreignminister.gov.au\/node\/4350\">Dr Greg French<\/a>&nbsp;as Australia\u2019s next Ambassador to the Netherlands.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I thank the outgoing Ambassadors and High Commissioners, for their contributions to advancing Australia\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I announce the appointment of four career public servants to lead Australian posts in Austria, Kiribati, Singapore and the Netherlands.
