A re-elected Perrottet Liberal Government will commit to supporting the Somali Welfare and Cultural Organisation to host its annual Africultures festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liberal Candidate for Parramatta Katie Mullens welcomed the commitment, saying it would be a major win for the African community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a rich and diverse African community here in NSW, which has played a major role in promoting our rich multicultural society,\u201d Ms Mullens said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy supporting this event, we are helping the community build bridges and find ways to connect people from all walks of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure said in the next term of Government, the NSW Liberals will invest $80,000 over four years into the running of the major event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfricultures is Australia\u2019s largest celebration of African culture, and it is fitting its home is in Australia\u2019s most successful multicultural society,\u201d Mr Coure said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGoing on 15 years now, this event has been helping African communities across the state and across Australia promote and share their culture with everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Coure said as part of the commitment, Somali Welfare and Cultural Organisation would receive $20,000 a year for four years to host the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis event captures the essence of African culture and showcases it for all to enjoy, from art and music to fashion, food and even sport,\u201d Mr Coure said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
