Greens Co-Deputy Leader and industrial relations spokesperson, Adam Bandt MP, today welcomed Labor\u2019s move towards the Greens\u2019 position on the minimum wage, but said his party would amend Labor\u2019s laws in the Senate to ensure a \u2018hard floor\u2019 under the minimum wage of 60% of the adult median wage.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s good that Labor is moving towards the Greens\u2019 position on the minimum wage, but there are some problems with the ALP\u2019s approach,\u201d said Mr Bandt.
\n\u201cIf we can turf the conservatives out we\u2019ll work with Labor to lift the minimum wage, but we\u2019ll amend the law in the Senate to ensure a \u2018hard floor\u2019 of 60% of the adult median wage, a recognised poverty level.
\n\u201cWhen 1 in 4 people in poverty is working full-time, our labour laws are broken.
\n\u201cThe penalty rates decision from the Fair Work Commission shows that guidelines aren\u2019t enough. Without a \u2018hard floor\u2019 in legislation, wages can still go backwards.
