{"id":19792,"date":"2023-01-13T06:32:59","date_gmt":"2023-01-13T06:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=19792"},"modified":"2023-01-13T06:32:59","modified_gmt":"2023-01-13T06:32:59","slug":"local-school-commitments-delivered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2023\/01\/13\/local-school-commitments-delivered\/","title":{"rendered":"Local school commitments delivered"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal Member for Newcastle, Sharon Claydon, today announced that funding for three local schools under the Schools Upgrade Fund has been delivered by the Albanese Labor Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Successful projects in the Newcastle electorate under the Targeted Round are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Belair Public School will receive $31,150 for playground upgrades<\/li><li>Heaton Public School will receive $50,000 to upgrade the creative play space<\/li><li>Mayfield West Demonstration School will receive $50,000 for air conditioning and air ventilation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Claydon said the funding for these commitments has now been confirmed and will be provided to the schools in coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe committed to funding for these important school upgrades \u2013 and we\u2019ve delivered,\u201d Ms Claydon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is terrific news for these schools \u2013 especially for their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt means better equipment and facilities to help them learn and play in a top-class environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m so proud of our local schools and students. Everyone has had a tough couple of years and this funding is part of our efforts to help them bounce back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funding is part of the $270 million Schools Upgrade Fund which is being rolled-out by the Albanese Labor Government to boost school infrastructure for students, especially to combat the impacts of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Claydon also encouraged local schools to apply for funding for projects under the open grant round.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe open grant round is worth $32 million and will be invested in things like new laptops and iPads, classroom upgrades and outdoor learning areas,\u201d Ms Claydon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI encourage all schools in Newcastle to apply.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funding will go to schools most in need towards small-scale projects worth up to $25,000 to create healthier and safer learning environments and help students get back on track after disruptions caused by COVID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on how to apply visit:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.gov.au\/schools-upgrade-fund\">www.education.gov.au\/schools-upgrade-fund<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federal Member for Newcastle, Sharon Claydon, today announced that funding for three local schools under the Schools Upgrade Fund has been delivered by the Albanese Labor Government.
