{"id":18280,"date":"2022-09-19T11:05:37","date_gmt":"2022-09-19T11:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=18280"},"modified":"2022-09-19T11:05:37","modified_gmt":"2022-09-19T11:05:37","slug":"new-homes-for-at-risk-women-in-bankstown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2022\/09\/19\/new-homes-for-at-risk-women-in-bankstown\/","title":{"rendered":"New homes for at-risk women in Bankstown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More women at risk of homelessness have a roof over their head with tenants moving into new units in Bankstown, acquired as part of a $2.8 million investment to support vulnerable people into housing.<br>\u00a0<br>Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the seven dwellings were being delivered under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facs.nsw.gov.au%2Fabout%2Freforms%2Ffuture-directions%2Fpartner-with-the-nsw-government%2Fcommunity-housing-innovation-fund-chif&amp;data=05%7C01%7Cwebmaster%40nsw.liberal.org.au%7Cac51e7c6492e4c4f40a908da99df6675%7Cf7b9e888f8a7467190c0d6ca09a51633%7C0%7C0%7C637991482333798275%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=dEf5OrlGaHo5BmMn5CoWgucOJJTnE4qKkaX6qPKVQXY%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Community Housing Innovation Fund<\/a>\u00a0(CHIF) &#8211; a partnership with the community housing sector to provide more social and affordable housing.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cWe know that stable housing is key to empowering at-risk women to improve their lives,\u201d Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see these women move into their new home, providing a life-changing space for those who need it most.\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>Minister for Women\u2019s Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Sexual Violence, Natalie Ward, said the NSW Government had worked closely with CHIF to deliver these dwellings, which have been specifically designed to meet the needs of vulnerable women.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cWe know that domestic and family violence is tragically one of the main causes of homelessness for women,\u201d Mrs Ward said.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cOur government remains focused on breaking that cycle of family violence by investing in important initiatives like this and supporting women to overcome barriers of inequality.\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>The CHIF offers grants to community housing providers who also co-contribute resources.
