{"id":1786,"date":"2019-03-08T05:52:28","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T05:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=1786"},"modified":"2019-03-08T05:52:28","modified_gmt":"2019-03-08T05:52:28","slug":"stopping-drivers-from-feeling-the-pinch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/03\/08\/stopping-drivers-from-feeling-the-pinch\/","title":{"rendered":"STOPPING DRIVERS FROM FEELING THE PINCH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The highly successful pinch point removal program will be expanded under the NSW Liberals &amp; Nationals Government to remove even more known bottlenecks and keep drivers moving on roads across the State.<br \/>\nPremier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Roads Melinda Pavey said the $450 million investment to remove 12 pinch points is only possible because of the NSW Liberals &amp; Nationals Government\u2019s strong economic management.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are making this investment to keep our roads moving so drivers can spend less time sitting in traffic and more time doing what they need to or what they enjoy,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to ease congestion, whether it is through proven methods such as eliminating pinch points or new technology such as drones.<br \/>\n\u201cCongestion costs Sydney around $6 billion each year and this is a critical long-term investment in our future, which can only be made because we have worked hard to repair our economy and the budget.\u201d<br \/>\nMrs Pavey said $25 million will also be invested in drone technology and virtual messaging so more of the road network can be monitored in real time and incidents can be reported and cleared faster.<br \/>\n\u201cNew traffic technologies will decrease congestion and provide more efficient trips for drivers across the existing road network,\u201d Mrs Pavey said.<br \/>\nPinch Points to be upgraded include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pennant Hills Road \/ Carlingford Road, Carlingford;<\/li>\n<li>Pennant Hills Road, between M2 Motorway and Woodstock Avenue, Carlingford (Southbound);<\/li>\n<li>Traffic lights at Intersection of Baker Street and Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford;<\/li>\n<li>Forest Road and Stoney Creek Road, Beverly Hills;<\/li>\n<li>Forest Road at Boundary Road and Bonds Road, Peakhurst;<\/li>\n<li>The Horsley Drive \/ Polding Street, Fairfield;<\/li>\n<li>Henry Lawson Drive at Rabaul Road and Haig Avenue, Georges Hall;<\/li>\n<li>Linden Street, between River Road and The Grand Parade, Sutherland;<\/li>\n<li>Cumberland Highway at Horsley Drive, Smithfield;<\/li>\n<li>The Horsley Drive at Nelson Street, Fairfield;<\/li>\n<li>Princes Highway at Bates Road, Kareela; and<\/li>\n<li>Victoria Road, West Ryde at the rail bridge between West Parade and Hermitage Road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The highly successful pinch point removal program will be expanded under the NSW Liberals &amp; Nationals Government to remove even more known bottlenecks and keep drivers moving on roads across the State.
