{"id":17031,"date":"2022-06-17T01:14:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T01:14:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=17031"},"modified":"2022-06-17T01:14:30","modified_gmt":"2022-06-17T01:14:30","slug":"nsw-to-introduce-universal-pre-kindergarten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2022\/06\/17\/nsw-to-introduce-universal-pre-kindergarten\/","title":{"rendered":"NSW to introduce universal pre-kindergarten"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSW will launch one of the biggest education reforms in a generation, starting with the introduction of a universal pre-Kindergarten year of education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2022\/23 NSW Budget will set aside more than $5.8 billion over 10 years to introduce universal pre-Kindergarten for all children in NSW by 2030. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Premier Dominic Perrottet said the huge investment in families was on a scale never seen before in Australia. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is incredible reform that will change lives and deliver enormous educational benefits for children across the state, securing a brighter future for NSW families,\u201d Mr Perrottet said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re ensuring our youngest learners thrive by introducing a full year of preschool education before Kindergarten, as we know how important it is to have a strong educational foundation.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said that children who receive quality early childhood education are more likely to get better results at school and earn more across their lifetime. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis Budget is all about investing in a better future, and setting our kids up for success is priceless,\u201d Mr Kean said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis reform will deliver intergenerational results for our kids and our economy.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NSW Government will consult with families, peak bodies and service providers to create the best model for the new, universal pre-Kindergarten year for all children in NSW. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell said the evidence is clear that providing the best education starts in the early years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUniversal pre-Kindergarten will give every child in NSW access to a specialised year of play-based learning, smoothing their transition to school and solidifying their path to a brighter future,\u201d Ms Mitchell said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUniversal pre-Kindergarten is something I have been working hard to bring to NSW for a number of years, having seen the benefits of it for children and families in countries like Canada.
