A factory has been partially destroyed during a fire near Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About 5.30pm today (Tuesday 14 June 2022), emergency services responded to reports of a fire at a factory on Parker Street, Carrington, about 5km north of Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The premises were self-evacuated before the arrival of emergency services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 49-year-old male employee for minor smoke inhalation. He was taken to Mater Calvary Hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were no reports of any other people being injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fire was extinguished by NSW Fire & Rescue about 8.10pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers from Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the fire; however, it is not being treated as suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Damaged sustained to the factory is believed to about $1m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no health risk to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
