{"id":16897,"date":"2022-06-05T10:39:18","date_gmt":"2022-06-05T10:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=16897"},"modified":"2022-06-05T10:39:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-05T10:39:18","slug":"stunning-new-walk-opens-in-the-snowies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2022\/06\/05\/stunning-new-walk-opens-in-the-snowies\/","title":{"rendered":"Stunning new walk opens in the snowies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The second stage of a world-class multi-day walk, featuring the country\u2019s highest suspension bridge between Guthega and Charlotte Pass in Kosciuszko National Park is now complete.<br>\u00a0<br>Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said the spectacular new nine-kilometre track along the upper Snowy River is helping to establish the region as a key eco-adventure tourism destination.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cOnce all four stages are complete, the 55-kilometre Snowies Alpine Walk will be a world-class experience for visitors to enjoy even more of Kosciuszko National Park, and puts the Snowy Mountains region firmly on the domestic and international tourism map,\u201d Mr Toole said.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cThe Snowies Alpine Walk includes Australia\u2019s highest suspension bridge at 1,627 metres above sea level and will create more than 30 jobs, attracting an expected 50,000 visitors per year.\u201d<br>\u00a0<br>Minister for Environment James Griffin said the project is part of the largest ever investment in national park visitor infrastructure and could compete with the likes of Tasmania\u2019s Cradle Mountain Overland Track.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cThe opening of this section of the walk marks the completion of the second of four stages, and I\u2019m thrilled to see increased access in this beautiful part of the world,\u201d Mr Griffin said.<br>\u00a0<br>\u201cThe Snowies Alpine Walk is putting NSW on the map for multi-day hikes, and it\u2019ll be a must-do walk for anyone who loves Tasmania\u2019s Cradle Mountain Overland Track.
