{"id":1658,"date":"2019-02-25T11:19:01","date_gmt":"2019-02-25T11:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=1658"},"modified":"2019-02-25T11:19:01","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T11:19:01","slug":"plan-ahead-and-get-ready-to-celebrate-the-2019-sydney-gay-and-lesbian-mardi-gras-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/02\/25\/plan-ahead-and-get-ready-to-celebrate-the-2019-sydney-gay-and-lesbian-mardi-gras-parade\/","title":{"rendered":"Plan ahead and get ready to celebrate the 2019 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Police Force is encouraging everyone heading into the city to celebrate the 2019 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade this weekend to plan ahead and enjoy the festivities safely.<br \/>\nThousands of spectators are expected to line Oxford and Flinders Streets and Anzac Parade on Saturday (2 March 2019), as colourful floats make their way through Darlinghurst to mark the 41st anniversary of Mardi Gras.<br \/>\nOperation Commander, Assistant Commissioner Tony Crandell, said police will have a significant presence across the city to ensure the evening\u2019s events are safe, fun and family-friendly.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are expecting big crowds to attend this year\u2019s parade and to make sure everyone has a great night, we have been working closely with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras staff to ensure safety is the top priority,\u201d Assistant Commissioner Crandell said.<br \/>\n\u201cPolice are not here to ruin anyone\u2019s fun and anyone acting inappropriately will be dealt with swiftly and face the full force of the law.<br \/>\n\u201cOfficers will be keeping an eye out for anyone taking or distributing illicit drugs, and those engaged in alcohol-related crime or anti-social behaviour.<br \/>\n\u201cIf you are planning to head into the city, please think before you drink.
