{"id":15965,"date":"2022-04-05T10:09:48","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T10:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=15965"},"modified":"2022-04-05T10:09:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T10:09:48","slug":"ipcc-says-its-now-or-never-to-quit-coal-and-gas-or-last-drinks-for-a-liveable-planet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2022\/04\/05\/ipcc-says-its-now-or-never-to-quit-coal-and-gas-or-last-drinks-for-a-liveable-planet\/","title":{"rendered":"IPCC says it\u2019s \u201cnow or never\u201d to quit coal and gas &#8211; or last drinks for a liveable planet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says 2025 must be the peak year for global emissions and that new investments in coal, oil and gas will take us past 1.5 degrees.<br>\u00a0<br>The findings of the latest IPCC report, described as the \u2018final warning\u2019, put both Australian major political parties at odds with the science and global consensus on targets and the need to cease all new fossil fuel infrastructure.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Greens Leader, Adam Bandt MP said:<\/strong><br>\u00a0<br>\u201cIt\u2019s clear Liberal and Labor\u2019s new coal and gas must stop.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe IPCC report makes it clear that we have all the technologies we need, but renewables and EV\u2019s won\u2019t be enough unless we also get out of coal and gas.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>\u201cCoal and gas are the biggest cause of climate change.
