{"id":14388,"date":"2021-12-23T05:36:27","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T05:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=14388"},"modified":"2021-12-23T05:36:27","modified_gmt":"2021-12-23T05:36:27","slug":"new-members-appointed-to-national-sports-tribunal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/12\/23\/new-members-appointed-to-national-sports-tribunal\/","title":{"rendered":"New members appointed to National Sports Tribunal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Morrison Government has further bolstered the high-calibre membership of the nation\u2019s pre-eminent sports dispute resolution body, the National Sports Tribunal (NST).<br \/>\nMinister for Sport, Richard Colbeck, has appointed 41 new members to the NST, recommended by an independent selection advisory committee.<br \/>\nThey join the NST\u2019s first 39 members who were appointed by the same committee in the first tranche of members, when the NST started in March last year.<br \/>\nThe NST is the key element of the Government\u2019s comprehensive sports integrity strategy.<br \/>\nIt plays a central role in ensuring the effective provision of dispute resolution services for sports participants, support personnel and sporting organisations across Australia.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Morrison Government is profoundly committed to making sure sport is safe, fair and inclusive for all Australians,\u201d Minister Colbeck said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe NST\u2019s role is to hear and resolve national-level sporting disputes in Australia.\u201d<br \/>\nMembers are responsible for conducting arbitration, mediation, conciliation and case appraisal. They can compel witnesses to appear in person before the NST.<br \/>\n\u201cAs the caseload of the NST continues to grow, this second round of members \u2013 21 men and 20 women \u2013 will broaden the skills and capability of the NST, factoring in gender, geographic coverage, experience in various dispute resolution methods, and subject matter expertise.
