{"id":13845,"date":"2021-11-16T02:54:54","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T02:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=13845"},"modified":"2021-11-16T02:54:54","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T02:54:54","slug":"new-curriculum-released-in-a-digital-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/11\/16\/new-curriculum-released-in-a-digital-first\/","title":{"rendered":"New curriculum released in a digital first"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New English and Mathematics syllabuses for the State\u2019s youngest students were released today, marking a major milestone in the NSW Government\u2019s Curriculum Reform agenda.<br \/>\nPremier Dominic Perrottet said students in kindergarten, year 1 and year 2 would be the first to benefit from the changes, following the first comprehensive review in more than 30-years.<br \/>\n\u201cOne of the most important things a government can do is provide a quality education and reform was needed to bring our curriculum into the 21<sup>st<\/sup>century,\u201d Mr Perrottet said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe new approach will ensure our youngest learners are provided with a solid foundation to grow from, with a focus on literacy and numeracy skills.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell said for the first time the curriculum is completely online and comes with explicit teaching examples.<br \/>\n\u201cWe heard clearly from teachers that navigating syllabuses was unnecessarily arduous,\u201d Ms Mitchell said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe new online curriculum removes ambiguity for teachers, and comes with explicit teaching advice on an online platform.
