{"id":13166,"date":"2021-09-29T04:04:33","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T04:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=13166"},"modified":"2021-09-29T04:04:33","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T04:04:33","slug":"hospital-staff-allegedly-threatened-with-syringe-maitland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/09\/29\/hospital-staff-allegedly-threatened-with-syringe-maitland\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital staff allegedly threatened with syringe &#8211; Maitland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged after allegedly threatening hospital staff with a blood-filled syringe at a Hunter hospital overnight.<br \/>\nAbout 4.30pm yesterday (Monday 27 September 2021), a 32-year-old man was transferred to Maitland Hospital for medical treatment.<br \/>\nThe man later became aggressive towards staff and was directed to leave the hospital by security.<br \/>\nHe was removed however re-entered a short time later and allegedly threatened security staff and a nurse with a blood-filled syringe.<br \/>\nThe man dropped the instrument and continued to threaten staff before police arrival.<br \/>\nFollowing a short struggle, the man was arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station.<br \/>\nHe continued to resist arrest and allegedly became abusive towards police.<br \/>\nHe was charged with nine offences, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Behave in offensive manner in\/near public place\/school<\/li>\n<li>Armed with intent to commit indictable offence (x3)<\/li>\n<li>Stalk\/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (x4)<\/li>\n<li>Resist officer in execution of duty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court today (Tuesday 28 September 2021).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged after allegedly threatening hospital staff with a blood-filled syringe at a Hunter hospital overnight.
