{"id":13127,"date":"2021-09-24T21:37:31","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T21:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=13127"},"modified":"2021-09-24T21:37:31","modified_gmt":"2021-09-24T21:37:31","slug":"driving-drug-weapons-charges-after-man-allegedly-conducts-burnouts-near-cessnock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/09\/24\/driving-drug-weapons-charges-after-man-allegedly-conducts-burnouts-near-cessnock\/","title":{"rendered":"Driving, drug, weapons charges after man allegedly conducts burnouts near Cessnock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with driving, drug and weapons offences following an investigation into dangerous driving and burnouts in the Hunter region.<br \/>\nOn Wednesday 22 September 2021, officers from the Newcastle-Hunter Sector of Traffic and Highway Patrol were notified of a white Toyota Hilux spray painted black allegedly conducting burnouts in Bellbird in the early hours of the morning.<br \/>\nFollowing inquiries, officers \u2013 with assistance from Hunter Valley Police District \u2013 executed a search warrant at a home on Kempe Street, Cessnock, about 1.45pm yesterday (Thursday 23 September 2021).<br \/>\nDuring the warrant, police seized a Toyota Hilux, a Mercedes Van, two slingshots, methylamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, number plates and mobile phones.<br \/>\nA 28-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Cessnock Police Station.<br \/>\nHe was charged with 14 offences including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x2)<\/li>\n<li>Possess ammunition without holding licence\/permit\/authority<\/li>\n<li>Unlawfully possess number plates<\/li>\n<li>Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period<\/li>\n<li>Drive recklessly\/furiously or speed\/manner dangerous<\/li>\n<li>Interfere with person&#8217;s enjoyment or risk safety<\/li>\n<li>Use light vehicle with dangerous frontal protrusions<\/li>\n<li>Use light vehicle with seatbelt missing or defective<\/li>\n<li>Use light vehicle not comply with tyres standard<\/li>\n<li>Use vehicle with defective body or structural member<\/li>\n<li>Possess prohibited drug<\/li>\n<li>Possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs<\/li>\n<li>Not comply with noticed direction re s 7\/8\/9 \u2013 COVID-19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Cessnock man was granted conditional bail to appear at Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday 13 October 2021.<br \/>\nTraffic Inspector for the Newcastle-Hunter Sector, Inspector Mick Buko, said this manner of driving is reckless and can have serious consequences.<br \/>\n\u201cNot only is this behaviour dangerous, it also puts other innocent members of the public at risk, and we simply won\u2019t tolerate it.<br \/>\n\u201cAnyone who observes this sort of dangerous driving is encouraged to report it to your local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,\u201d Insp Buko said.<br \/>\nInvestigations are ongoing into further alleged driving offences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with driving, drug and weapons offences following an investigation into dangerous driving and burnouts in the Hunter region.
