{"id":13075,"date":"2021-09-22T12:41:59","date_gmt":"2021-09-22T12:41:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=13075"},"modified":"2021-09-22T12:41:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-22T12:41:59","slug":"friends-bubble-created-for-children-to-allow-home-visits-in-time-for-school-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/09\/22\/friends-bubble-created-for-children-to-allow-home-visits-in-time-for-school-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Friends bubble created for children to allow home visits in time for school holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Children and teenagers aged 18 years and under will be able to create a \u2018friends bubble\u2019 to allow home visits provided the adults in their homes are fully vaccinated, under an easing of restrictions for school holidays.<br \/>\nFrom 12 noon today, 21 September, people aged 18 years and under who live in stay-at-home areas and areas of concern across NSW will be able to create a bubble of three friends and visit each other\u2019s homes for play and activity, subject to the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each child is allowed to have two designated friends come to their house. These two friends must always be the same, creating a three-person \u201cfriends bubble\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>All people older than 18 years in all the households must be fully vaccinated;<\/li>\n<li>The friends must reside within 5km of each other or in the same LGA; and<\/li>\n<li>If parents\/carers are dropping children off, they must not stay to interact with other parents or carers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Premier Gladys Berejiklian said our strong vaccination rate has allowed us to make this change to support the wellbeing of young people.<br \/>\n\u201cParents and children have had a difficult few months, trying to balance both work, often from home, as well as home schooling,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said.<br \/>\n\u201cThis change will hopefully make a big difference for families during the school holidays and allow young children and teenagers to catch up and reconnect with their friends.\u201d<br \/>\nHealth Minister Brad Hazzard said at all times, the government has tried to strike a balance between the best possible health outcomes, whilst easing the pressures on families and individuals living in lockdown.<br \/>\n\u201cThese latest changes are aimed at giving children more opportunities to be together and balances COVID safety with their mental health and wellbeing,\u201d Mr Hazzard said.<br \/>\nMinister for Education and Early Childhood Sarah Mitchell said this change would also benefit older students, allowing them to create a study bubble ahead of the HSC.<br \/>\n\u201cYear 12 students have had a stressful few months, and with the HSC approaching, a study bubble is a great idea to help students maintain motivation, receive support from a classmate and continue their preparation for the upcoming exams,\u201d Ms Mitchell said.<br \/>\nIf you have not booked in for a COVID-19 vaccine please book in as soon as possible.<br \/>\nFor the latest information or to book a vaccination appointment visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nsw.gov.au%2Fcovid-19&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cwebmaster%40nsw.liberal.org.au%7C05dc3d32ee5c4d3ae8fc08d97c8c4fb5%7Cf7b9e888f8a7467190c0d6ca09a51633%7C0%7C0%7C637677764498603740%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=KzuEIqQp7HvwWcPfM%2F4rMN7jXKqnhAXYLtQO%2Bxx4Oes%3D&amp;reserved=0\">nsw.gov.au\/covid-19<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Children and teenagers aged 18 years and under will be able to create a \u2018friends bubble\u2019 to allow home visits provided the adults in their homes are fully vaccinated, under an easing of restrictions for school holidays.
