{"id":12715,"date":"2021-08-30T04:42:07","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T04:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=12715"},"modified":"2021-08-30T04:42:07","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T04:42:07","slug":"more-jobs-more-care-for-people-with-disability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/08\/30\/more-jobs-more-care-for-people-with-disability\/","title":{"rendered":"More Jobs More Care for people with disability"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page-content\">\n<section class=\"s-text-block\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"c-text-block\">People with disability will benefit from a more robust care sector as part of a NSW Government initiative which aims to accelerate worker recruitment and enhance on-the-job training and support.<br \/>\nMinister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Alister Henskens said up to 2,500 new workers will be upskilled through the first phase of\u00a0<em>More Jobs More Care<\/em>.<br \/>\n\u201cThe success of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has driven immense growth in the disability care sector across our state, resulting in enormous demand for workers,\u201d Mr Henskens said.<br \/>\n\u201cMore Jobs More Care will future-proof the sector, by fast-tracking recruitment of new workers and equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to have a long and successful career.\u201d<br \/>\nThe first phase of the $17 million program will focus on regional areas and will support service providers to ramp up recruitment, training and on-the-job support.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apprenticeshipcareers.com.au\/\">Apprenticeship Careers Australia<\/a>\u00a0has been contracted to deliver the first phase of the program, which also includes a focus on providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.<br \/>\nMinister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said the program will deliver fee-free courses through registered training organisations and provide mentoring and practical supports for new workers.<br \/>\n\u201cA skilled workforce will pave the way for a prosperous disability care sector,\u201d Mr Lee said.<br \/>\n\u201cMore Jobs More Care will break down barriers to entering the workforce, by waving expenses like the cost of an NDIS Working Screening Check, and offer service providers practical support to help onboard and train new workers.\u201d<br \/>\nThe NDIS is delivering unprecedented social and economic benefits for NSW, with more than 146,000 people eligible for supports through the NDIS, including over 80,000 who are receiving support for the first time.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<section class=\"s-footer\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"footer-content\">\n<div class=\"footer-text\">\nAuthorised by Chris Stone\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People with disability will benefit from a more robust care sector as part of a NSW Government initiative which aims to accelerate worker recruitment and enhance on-the-job training and support.
