{"id":12626,"date":"2021-08-23T20:08:38","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T20:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=12626"},"modified":"2021-08-23T20:08:38","modified_gmt":"2021-08-23T20:08:38","slug":"city-supports-aspen-medical-disability-vaccination-hub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/08\/23\/city-supports-aspen-medical-disability-vaccination-hub\/","title":{"rendered":"City supports Aspen Medical disability vaccination hub"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"inner-head\">\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"date-info\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"pull-right right-icons\">\n<div class=\"share\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"HeroImage\" src=\"https:\/\/newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/Newcastle\/media\/Gallery\/Disabilityvaccinationhub_HERO.jpg?ext=.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"inner-desc\">\nCity of Newcastle has worked with Aspen Medical to establish a Newcastle disability vaccination hub at Wallsend Library.<br \/>\nThe vaccination hub will operate from today for eligible individuals within the disability sector including people with a disability and disability support workers.<br \/>\nEligible people with a disability include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NDIS participants aged 12 and over<\/li>\n<li>Those who have a significant disability or underlying medical condition aged 12 and over<\/li>\n<li>Residents living in a group home with two or more people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligible people working in disability include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carers of NDIS participants aged 12 and over<\/li>\n<li>Staff, carers, infrequent visitors and volunteers in a residential care setting<\/li>\n<li>Workers who provide in-home and community disability and aged care, including centre-based care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The clinic will cater for at least 50 customers at one time and plans to vaccinate up to 200 eligible people a day.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle is pleased to be able to support Aspen Medical to continue their rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination.<br \/>\nWhen Aspen Medical approached City of Newcastle for support to locate a suitable venue to accommodate the disability vaccination hub, its emergency management team worked quickly to identify Wallsend Library as a location which met Aspen Medical&#8217;s operational requirements.<br \/>\nWallsend Library has wheelchair access, disabled parking and room to facilitate vaccinations with ample space for safe waiting areas.<br \/>\nIneligible walk-ins to the vaccination hub are unable to be accommodated.
