{"id":12476,"date":"2021-08-13T03:33:18","date_gmt":"2021-08-13T03:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=12476"},"modified":"2021-08-13T03:33:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-13T03:33:18","slug":"covid-19-vaccinations-and-the-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/08\/13\/covid-19-vaccinations-and-the-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 vaccinations and the workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Morrison Government is continuing to support Australians through the pandemic and is encouraging employers and employees to work together on the issue of COVID-19 vaccination for Australian workers.<br \/>\nMinister for Industrial Relations, Michaelia Cash has welcomed the release of the\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.fairwork.gov.au\/coronavirus-and-australian-workplace-laws\/covid-19-vaccinations-and-the-workplace\/covid-19-vaccinations-workplace-rights-and-obligations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">latest guidance on workplace vaccination<\/a>,<\/u>\u00a0published today by the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO).<br \/>\nMinister Cash said the Morrison Government recommended that all eligible Australians get vaccinated as soon as they can and encouraged employers to assist wherever possible.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are seeing record numbers of Australians coming forward for vaccination and we thank each and every person vaccinated and all of our medical workforce for their dedication and hard work,\u201d Minister Cash said.<br \/>\n\u201cVaccination is free, voluntary and an important way to ensure the Australian community and economy can emerge and recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d Minister Cash said.<br \/>\nMinister Cash said some workers in high risk settings\u2014such as aged care and quarantine facilities\u2014are required to be vaccinated to protect vulnerable people and the broader community. These are requirements set by state and territory public health orders.<br \/>\nMinister Cash said it was important that workplaces take a collaborative approach with their workers on discussing, planning and facilitating COVID-19 vaccination in the workplace.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is important that both employers and employees continue to work together to get vaccinated as soon as possible. This will benefit not only our workplaces, but help our nation return to normal as soon as possible,\u201d Minister Cash said.<br \/>\nMinister Cash also encouraged employers to visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Safe Work Australia<\/a>\u00a0website for detailed guidance on workplace health and safety. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oaic.gov.au\/privacy\/guidance-and-advice\/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccinations-understanding-your-privacy-obligations-to-your-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published guidance for employers on the privacy implications of workplace vaccination.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Morrison Government is continuing to support Australians through the pandemic and is encouraging employers and employees to work together on the issue of COVID-19 vaccination for Australian workers.
