Minister for Sport Richard Colbeck has credited outgoing Paralympics Australia chief executive Lynne Anderson for forging greater pathways for athletes.
\nMs Anderson has announced she will step down from her role at the end of 2021 after six years leading the organisation.
\nMinister Colbeck said Ms Anderson had showcased extraordinary leadership during her tenure.
\n\u201cShe has championed the needs of the Australian Paralympic movement starting with those who matter most \u2013 the athletes,\u201d Minister Colbeck said.
\n\u201cMs Anderson has strengthened the pathways for aspiring para-athletes, taking advantage of every funding opportunity to ensure our Australian representatives can make their mark on the world stage.
\n\u201cShe has worked tirelessly to reinforce athlete welfare \u2013 an increasingly important aspect as we navigate the impact of the pandemic on professional sport.\u201d
\nShe has also been a fierce advocate for corporate support.
\nMinister Colbeck said Ms Anderson\u2019s professionalism and experience extended to her role as a member of the Sport Integrity Australian Advisory Council.
\n\u201cThe Morrison Government, through the establishment of the advisory council, has been able to draw from Ms Anderson\u2019s breadth of experience and professionalism, ensuring matters of sports integrity are dealt with comprehensively,\u201d Minister Colbeck said.
