A teenager has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault at a soccer match in the Hunter region earlier this month.
\nAbout 8pm on Wednesday 12 May 2021, a 16-year-old player was allegedly punched in the face at the conclusion of a soccer match held at Birralee Oval in Kurri Kurri, knocking him unconscious.
\nThe teen was transported to Kurri Kurri Hospital before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment where it was revealed he had suffered a broken jaw and underwent surgery.
\nOfficers from Newcastle Police District were notified on Thursday 13 May 2021
\nFollowing an investigation by detectives attached to Hunter Valley Police District, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after attending Cessnock Police Station just after 3pm yesterday (Monday 24 May 2021).
