{"id":11438,"date":"2021-05-17T07:33:55","date_gmt":"2021-05-17T07:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=11438"},"modified":"2021-05-17T07:33:55","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T07:33:55","slug":"eat-street-light-rail-on-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/05\/17\/eat-street-light-rail-on-track\/","title":{"rendered":"EAT STREET LIGHT RAIL ON TRACK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Work on Parramatta\u2019s \u2018Eat Street\u2019 has hit a major milestone, with 50 per cent of the light rail tracks installed along the dining strip.<br \/>\nMinister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance said the team has been working hard to get the tracks laid along Church Street, between Market and George Streets, as quickly as possible, while minimising the impact to the local community.<br \/>\n\u201cMore than three kilometres of track have been laid along the 12-kilometre route, with track laying on \u2018Eat Street\u2019 on schedule to be completed during the middle of this year,\u201d Mr Constance said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Parramatta Light Rail team has worked more than three million hours on the project so far, with about one million hours spent on \u2018Eat Street\u2019 to get us to this significant milestone.\u201d<br \/>\nMember for Parramatta Geoff Lee said crews took advantage of the quieter roads during the April school holidays to accelerate track installation, avoiding up to 26 consecutive weekends of night works.<br \/>\n\u201cInnovative technology has been used during construction to identify and move 300 utilities, including a micro-tunnelling machine to build drainage and stormwater capacity while reducing noise, dust and vibration impacts above the ground,\u201d Dr Lee said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe want to thank the local businesses and residents for their patience during what has been a tough period for many.
