{"id":11406,"date":"2021-05-14T03:52:04","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T03:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=11406"},"modified":"2021-05-14T03:52:04","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T03:52:04","slug":"housing-australia-future-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/05\/14\/housing-australia-future-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Housing Australia Future Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An Albanese Labor Government will create a\u00a0ten\u00a0billion dollar off-budget\u00a0<strong>Housing Australia Future Fund<\/strong>\u00a0to build social and affordable housing now and into the future.<br \/>\nThis will create jobs, build homes and change lives.<br \/>\nOver the first five years, it will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build\u00a020,000\u00a0new social housing properties, including\u00a04,000\u00a0homes for women and children fleeing domestic and family violence and older women on low incomes who are at risk of homelessness,<\/li>\n<li>Build\u00a010,000\u00a0affordable homes for the heroes of the pandemic \u2013 frontline workers like police,\u00a0nurses and cleaners that kept us safe,<\/li>\n<li>Directly support\u00a021,500<a href=\"https:\/\/anthonyalbanese.com.au\/media-centre\/housing-australia-future-fund#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0full-time jobs across the construction industry and broader economy, per year, over 5 years, nationwide &#8211;\u00a0One in 10 direct workers on site will be apprentices.<\/li>\n<li>Provide\u00a0$200 million\u00a0for the repair, maintenance and improvements of housing in remote Indigenous communities, where some of the worst housing standards in the world are endured by our First Nations people,<\/li>\n<li>Invest\u00a0$100 million\u00a0in crisis and transitional housing for women and children fleeing domestic and family violence, and older women on low incomes who are at risk of homelessness, and<\/li>\n<li>Invest\u00a0$30 million\u00a0to build housing and fund specialist services for veterans who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the first five years,\u00a0a portion of the investment returns will be available to fund acute housing needs each year,\u00a0in perpetuity. This funding will be used for additional crisis housing, transitional housing and long-term social housing in parts of the country with the greatest need.<br \/>\nThis is not just good social policy, it\u2019s also good economic policy.<br \/>\nOver the first\u00a0five\u00a0years the value of residential construction work directly supported by the\u00a0Housing Australia Future Fund\u00a0will be approximately $12\u00a0billion and inject over $34.8\u00a0billion into the economy.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/anthonyalbanese.com.au\/media-centre\/housing-australia-future-fund#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><br \/>\nAfter eight long years in Government, housing affordability has just got worse and there are more homeless Australians than ever before.<br \/>\nThe Housing Australia Future Fund will give more Australians a future.<br \/>\nQuote attributable to the Leader of the Australian Labor Party, Anthony Albanese:<br \/>\n<em>\u201cThe security of a roof over one\u2019s head should be available to all Australians.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThe home I grew up in gave me and my mum so much more than somewhere to sleep.
