The\u00a0New South Wales visitor economy\u00a0will\u00a0get\u00a0a boost through two new industry\u00a0support and marketing\u00a0programs.
\nApplications are open for the $5.5 million Business Events Industry Support package\u00a0and $1 million\u00a0Tourism Industry\u00a0Marketing\u00a0Support package\u00a0through\u00a0the NSW Government\u2019s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW and Sydney\u2019s business events bidding specialists BESydney.
\nMinister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said these targeted programs would\u00a0support\u00a0the businesses and communities hardest hit by the\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0pandemic.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re helping\u00a0the\u00a0event owners, businesses, local tourism\u00a0organisations, regional councils and industry groups that need it most by\u00a0stimulating activity now and creating a pipeline of events\u00a0and visitors\u00a0into the\u00a0future.
\n\u201cThe business events industry is a powerhouse of the NSW visitor economy because it attracts high yield visitors who stay multiple nights, and these events engage many industry partners from accommodation and catering to staging, AV and other event delivery services.
\n\u201cThe Tourism Industry\u00a0Marketing\u00a0Support\u00a0package offers dollar-for-dollar support to communities that are ready to drive demand\u00a0that translates\u00a0to bookings\u00a0and confidence, for businesses,\u201d\u00a0Mr\u00a0Ayres said.
