A man has been arrested following an alleged domestic-related stabbing in Newcastle yesterday.
\nAbout 6.30pm (Friday 9 April 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing at a unit on William Street, Jesmond.
\nUpon arrival, officers attached to Newcastle City Police District located a 34-year-old woman with a serious stab wound to her neck.
\nNSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene, before she was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
\nDetectives established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.
\nA short time later, a 38-year-old man \u2013 who is known to the woman \u2013 was arrested at the scene.
\nHe was taken to Newcastle Police Station, where he is assisting police with their investigations.
