{"id":10682,"date":"2021-03-16T08:24:59","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T08:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=10682"},"modified":"2021-03-16T08:24:59","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T08:24:59","slug":"charges-laid-following-death-of-teenage-boy-charlestown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/03\/16\/charges-laid-following-death-of-teenage-boy-charlestown\/","title":{"rendered":"Charges laid following death of teenage boy \u2013 Charlestown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with murder following the death of a teenage boy in Lake Macquarie earlier today.<br \/>\nAbout <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/2\">12.30am<\/a> (Tuesday 16 March 2021), police were called to a unit on Charlestown Road, Charlestown, following reports a teenage boy was found unresponsive.<br \/>\nUpon arrival, police located the body of a 16-year-old boy inside the unit.<br \/>\nOfficers from Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teenager\u2019s death.<br \/>\nFollowing inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested in a carpark on Weakleys Drive, Thornton, about <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/4\">2.10am<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe man was taken to Maitland Police Station, before being transferred to the Mater Hospital.<br \/>\nHe was subsequently released and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with murder.<br \/>\nThe man was refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court tomorrow (<a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/6\">Wednesday 17 March 2021<\/a>).<br \/>\nThe pair are known to each other.<br \/>\nInvestigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with murder following the death of a teenage boy in Lake Macquarie earlier today.
