{"id":10678,"date":"2021-03-16T01:50:43","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T01:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=10678"},"modified":"2021-03-16T01:50:43","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T01:50:43","slug":"police-investigate-suspicious-teen-death-charlestown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/03\/16\/police-investigate-suspicious-teen-death-charlestown\/","title":{"rendered":"Police investigate suspicious teen death \u2013 Charlestown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested following the suspicious death of a teenager in Lake Macquarie overnight.<br \/>\nAbout <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/1\">12.30am<\/a> (Tuesday 16 March 2021), police were called to a unit on Charlestown Road, Charlestown, following reports a teenage boy was found unresponsive.<br \/>\nUpon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old boy deceased inside the unit.<br \/>\nOfficers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teen\u2019s death.<br \/>\nAs a result of inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested in a restaurant carpark on Weakleys Drive, Thornton, about <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/3\">2.10am<\/a>.<br \/>\nHe was taken to Maitland Police Station before being transferred to the Mater Hospital for treatment.<br \/>\nUpon his release, he was taken to Belmont Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.<br \/>\nInvestigations are ongoing.<br \/>\nThe pair are known to each other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested following the suspicious death of a teenager in Lake Macquarie overnight.
