{"id":10467,"date":"2021-02-27T03:11:24","date_gmt":"2021-02-27T03:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=10467"},"modified":"2021-02-27T03:11:24","modified_gmt":"2021-02-27T03:11:24","slug":"firearm-and-drugs-located-after-crash-cardiff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/02\/27\/firearm-and-drugs-located-after-crash-cardiff\/","title":{"rendered":"Firearm and drugs located after crash \u2013 Cardiff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with firearm and drug offences after a crash at Lake Macquarie overnight.<br \/>\nAbout <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/1\">3:50am<\/a> (Saturday 27 February 2021), police responded to reports that a silver Kia Cerato, travelling west along Lowry Street, Cardiff, had crashed into two parked cars.<br \/>\nThe driver, a 30-year-old man, was prevented from leaving the scene by several bystanders until police arrived.<br \/>\nOfficers from Lake Macquarie Police District attended and commenced an investigation.<br \/>\nPolice were informed that immediately after the collision the driver was seen acting suspiciously near a tree. A search of this area located a home-made pistol and a bag of ammunition.<br \/>\nA further search of the man and his vehicle located a quantity of methyl-amphetamine and alprazolam as well as more than $14,000 cash.<br \/>\nThe man was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Negligent driving<\/li>\n<li>Possess unauthorised pistol<\/li>\n<li>Possess unregistered firearm-pistol<\/li>\n<li>Possess loaded firearm public place<\/li>\n<li>Possess ammunition without holding licence\/permit<\/li>\n<li>Possess prohibited drug<\/li>\n<li>Possess prescribed restricted substance<\/li>\n<li>Deal with property proceeds of drive &lt;$100,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Marmong Point man has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (<a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/6\">Sunday 28 February 2021<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with firearm and drug offences after a crash at Lake Macquarie overnight.
