{"id":10174,"date":"2021-02-07T05:29:53","date_gmt":"2021-02-07T05:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=10174"},"modified":"2021-02-07T05:29:53","modified_gmt":"2021-02-07T05:29:53","slug":"man-charged-firearm-and-drugs-seized-after-pursuit-raymond-terrace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2021\/02\/07\/man-charged-firearm-and-drugs-seized-after-pursuit-raymond-terrace\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged, firearm and drugs seized after pursuit &#8211; Raymond Terrace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged after police seized a firearm and drugs following a pursuit in the Hunter region yesterday.<br \/>\nAbout 3.15am, Saturday 6 February 2021, officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were conducting routine patrols on Tathra Street, Raymond Terrace, when they attempted to stop a Toyota Kluger for the purposes of a random breath test.<br \/>\nWhen it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit commenced.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s alleged the Toyota also reversed into the front of the marked police vehicle, before driving through a large steel gate at a property on Sabre Close, causing extensive damage.<br \/>\nPolice arrested a 26-year-old man at the scene, and a 27-year-old man after a short foot pursuit.<br \/>\nFollowing a search of the vehicle, police seized a handgun, methylamphetamine and cannabis.<br \/>\nNo one was injured.<br \/>\nThe 27-year-old driver has been charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Police pursuit \u2013 not stop \u2013 drive recklessly<\/li>\n<li>Destroy or damage property<\/li>\n<li>Possess unauthorised pistol<\/li>\n<li>Not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm<\/li>\n<li>Possess prohibited drug<\/li>\n<li>Receive property stolen outside NSW<\/li>\n<li>Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen m\/v<\/li>\n<li>Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period \u2013 first offence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Sunday 7 February 2021).<br \/>\nThe 26-year-old passenger was released, pending further inquiries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged after police seized a firearm and drugs following a pursuit in the Hunter region yesterday.
