{"id":1000,"date":"2018-12-12T22:42:53","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T22:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=1000"},"modified":"2018-12-12T22:42:53","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T22:42:53","slug":"1-25-billion-to-improve-the-health-and-care-of-australian-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2018\/12\/12\/1-25-billion-to-improve-the-health-and-care-of-australian-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"$1.25 BILLION TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND CARE OF AUSTRALIAN PATIENTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Liberal and Nationals\u2019 Government will improve the health and care of patients right around Australia with a guaranteed $1.25 billion boost to health services.<br \/>\nThis will provide more doctors, more nurses and more services in every state and territory.<br \/>\nThis is the tangible benefit of strong economy and it\u2019s why we are so committed to keeping our economy strong.<br \/>\nThe $1.25 billion Community Health and Hospitals Program will fund projects and services in every state and territory, supporting patient care while reducing pressure on community and hospital services.<br \/>\nUnder the program, our Government will partner with communities, states and territories, health and hospital services and research institutions to provide additional funding in four key areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Specialist hospital services such as cancer treatment, rural health and hospital infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Drug and alcohol treatment<\/li>\n<li>Preventive, primary and chronic disease management<\/li>\n<li>Mental health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new program will complement our record investment in public hospitals.<br \/>\nOur funding for public hospitals will more than double from $13.3 billion in 2012\u201313 to $28.7 billion in 2024\u201325.<br \/>\nThis is record public hospital funding delivering more doctors, more nurses and more services.<br \/>\nOur new five year National Health Reform Agreement will deliver more than $30 billion in additional public hospital funding from 2020\u201321 to 2024\u201325, taking overall funding during this period to $130.2 billion.<br \/>\nThree Liberal and three Labor state and territories have already signed up to the new agreement, accessing record funding.<br \/>\nA strong economy enables the Liberal and Nationals\u2019 Government to invest in even more doctors, nurses and public hospital services \u2013 benefiting patients across Australia.<br \/>\nThis is further supported by our record investment in Medicare, provision of medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to make them affordable for patients, and the breakthrough medical science occurring through the Medical Research Future Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Liberal and Nationals\u2019 Government will improve the health and care of patients right around Australia with a guaranteed $1.25 billion boost to health services.
